What to expect from a heat pump installation

A good installation is decided before install day. Sizing, placement and airflow determine whether the system is quiet, efficient and easy to service for the next fifteen years.

1. Assessment and sizing

We look at the layout, insulation, window exposure, existing heating and how you actually use each room. Oversized equipment short-cycles and dehumidifies poorly; undersized equipment runs constantly in a cold snap.

2. Placement decisions you should be part of

Placement affects comfort, noise and future service cost. We show you the options and the trade-offs before anything is mounted.

  • Indoor head location for even distribution rather than drafts across seating or beds
  • Outdoor unit height and clearance for snow, drainage and defrost water
  • Line-set routing that stays serviceable and tidy on the exterior
  • Condensate routing that will not stain siding or ice up a walkway

3. Install day

Most single-zone installations are completed in one day. We protect work areas, keep the site clean, and walk you through the system before we leave.

4. Commissioning and documentation

Commissioning is the step most often skipped. It is where the system is verified to actually perform as designed.

  • Pressure and vacuum verification before charging
  • Operating measurements recorded in both heating and cooling
  • Manufacturer warranty registration handled for you
  • A digital equipment folder with model and serial numbers, photos and settings
